"The Dry" by Jane Harper - Set in the small, drought-stricken Australian town of Kiewarra, this crime novel explores the aftermath of a murder-suicide and the secrets that come to light as a result.
"The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah - This historical fiction novel set in Nazi-occupied France tells the story of two sisters, one of whom becomes a resistance fighter while the other is forced to collaborate with the Germans.
"The Chain" by Adrian McKinty - A gripping thriller that tells the story of a scheme in which parents are forced to give up their children to keep the chain going.
"The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett - This novel explores the lives of identical twin sisters who grow up in a small, southern black community, one of whom marries a black man, while the other passes for white and becomes estranged from her family.
"The Chain of Gold" by Cassandra Clare - This is the first book of a new series that is set in Edwardian London, where a group of teenagers are trained to fight demons and other supernatural creatures.
These books are considered as some of the best of the decade and are definitely worth a read for fans of the mystery thriller crime genre.
