"Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" is a graphic novel written by Frank Miller and illustrated by Klaus Janson. It was first published in 1986 and is considered a classic of the Batman comics. The story is set in a dystopian future where Batman, now in his 50s, comes out of retirement to fight crime once again. The novel explores the psychological and moral aspects of Batman, as well as his relationships with other characters such as Commissioner Gordon and Robin. The novel is notable for its darker tone and more mature themes than previous Batman comics, and has been credited with redefining the character.
